Donald Trump retweets “Too much Monsanto in the corn creates issues in the brain”

Donald Trump’s habit of loosely retweeting even the slightest praise has gotten him in trouble before but this time he’s oddly decided to go after the very voters he may need to secure the Republican nomination.

A new poll out today shows Trump losing his first place standing in Iowa to retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and apparently the billionaire mogul isn’t taking too kindly to the news.

“Too much Monsanto in the corn creates issues in the brain,” read one tweet Trump sent out to his nearly five million Twitter followers today:

Trump has previously denied being thin skinned during a recent interview on CNN, during which he complained that the host had ignored his favorable poll numbers, but his latest case of sour grapes sure does suggest otherwise.

Perhaps Trump has made the calculation that Iowa is a lost cause and that playing nice with the ultra-conservative, highly evangelical Iowa Republican base is a waste of time not likely to help his bid for the White House. After all, the last two winners of the Iowa Republican Caucuses — Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum — are currently polling at 3.7 percent and 0.5 percent nationally. And neither, of course, went on to win the GOP nod the first time they ran. UPDATE: Apparently, The Donald does care about Iowa Republicans after all. After a top Iowa Republican strategist lampooned Trump’s insulting tweet and Iowa media picked up on the diss, Trump was quick to throw some poor “young intern” under the bus:
